Safeguarding & Welfare 2 of 5

2. Parents

At Blandford Cricket Club, the safety and well-being of our members, especially children and vulnerable adults, is our top priority. We have implemented safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure a secure and supportive environment for everyone. We want our children and young people to enjoy playing cricket and parents/carers are vital in keeping them, and all children, safe.

Code of Conduct for Parents and Carers
As a parent of a child taking part in our club, we would like you to:

  • Make sure your child has the right kit, food and drink for the session or match
  • Ensure your child arrives on time, and is picked up promptly
  • Complete all consent, contact and medical forms and inform us if anything changes
  • Make sure your child wears any protective kit required
  • Be respectful of everyone involved – coaches, staff, volunteers, officials, young people, parents, and other teams
  • Build and maintain a relationship with your child’s coach/manager to effectively support your child’s development
  • Talk to us if you have any concerns about your child’s involvement in the club
  • Behave positively and encourage your child and their peers
  • Encourage your child to play by the rules
  • Use social media responsibly when communicating on our channels
  • Talk to your child about their cricket and what they want to achieve
  • Respect and accept official’s judgements and do not enter the field of play

As a parent we understand you have the right to

  • See our policies and procedures at any time
  • Know who the welfare and safeguarding officers are and have their contact details
  • Be involved in decisions within our club – we welcome new committee members
  • Be informed of any problems or concerns that affect your child
  • Be informed if your child is injured and see records of any incidents
  • Have any concerns you may raise listened and responded to
  • Be assured that your child is safeguarded during their time with the club

We expect all parents and carers to follow the behaviours and requests set out in this code. If any parent behaves in a way which contradicts this code, we will address this directly with the parent and aim to resolve the issue promptly.

We have codes of conduct for all our age groups in the 'Youth' section. We encourage you to read and discuss these with your child. If you or your child have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to your child's coach, a safeguarding officer or member of the committee.
